Woman Dies Of Severe Burns In Takoma Park Fire

TAKOMA PARK, Md. (AP) — An early morning fire has killed a grandmother in Takoma Park.

Montgomery County fire officials say they were called to an apartment about 2:15 a.m. Monday. Firefighters found a woman who had been badly burned. She was being comforted by her granddaughter and was taken to a burn center.

Officials later identified the woman as Charlotte Wilson, 56. She died later from her injuries.

Investigators believe the blaze started when a cigarette caused a pile of clothes and towels to catch fire.
