Charges Filed Against Man Accused Of Shooting Sheriff's Deputy In Cambridge
CAMBRIDGE, Md. (WJZ)-- Maryland State Police have filed charges against the 22-year-old man who is accused of shooting a Wicomico County Sheriff's deputy while police officers were trying to arrest him.
Tavone A. Dobson is charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, assault on a law enforcement officer and using a handgun while committing a felony.
Dobson surrendered to police at 1 p.m. Wednesday at a house in the 800-block of Hubbard Street in Cambridge. Police officers surrounded the residence at 9:30 a.m. after receiving information that Dobson was at that location. The suspect and police exchanged gunfire during which a Wicomico County Sheriff's deputy was shot in the arm. Officers had eight outstanding warrants for the suspect from multiple jurisdictions, including a fugitive warrant from Delaware.
State police are investigating this incident.
