Baltimore Approves Plans For Residential Projects

CATONSVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Baltimore County has approved preliminary plans for two senior-housing developments and a townhouse project.

The Baltimore Sun reports the council signed off Monday on "planned unit development" proposals for the projects. That designation allows developers to build more densely than allowed under regular zoning rules provided that their development offers some community benefit.

Enterprise Homes plans to build 72 affordable senior-housing units and says it will fund training for a volunteer fire department.

Shelter Development wants to build a 140-unit senior living community on the Catonsville Y campus. The Y plans to use money from the land sale to upgrade its center.

And Craftsmen Developers plans to build 108 townhomes and says it will pay for a new concession stand at one park and a fishing pier at another.
