Florida A&M Defeats Coppin State 74-72

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) -- Amin Stevens scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to help Florida A&M hold off Coppin State 74-72 Tuesday night in the first round of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament.

The 11th-seeded Rattlers (9-22) trailed 65-59 with 4:36 remaining and went on an 11-3 run behind six points from Avery
Moore. Yannick Crowder's free throws put Florida A&M in the lead, 70-68, with 1:02 to play.

Logan Wiens' 3-pointer put No. 6 seed Coppin State (14-16) back on top. But Crowder's basket gave the Rattlers back the lead for good with 28 seconds to play.

Moore, who was 4 of 5 from 3-point range, finished with 19 points for Florida A&M, which shot 60 percent from long range (12
of 20).

The Rattlers will play No. 3 seed Delaware State in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

The Eagles were led by Akeem Ellis with 24 points and Tony Gallo with 21.
