Police: Racing Cars Possible Cause Of Md. Crash

COLESVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Police in Montgomery County say a Wheaton woman has died in a collision that may have been related to a race involving two other vehicles.

Police say the crash happened Wednesday shortly before 4 p.m. in Colesville. An investigation revealed that a woman was driving a dark blue Nissan Altima eastbound on Randolph Road. As she was changing lanes, a silver car entered the same lane, and the two cars may have touched. The driver of the Nissan then lost control of her car.

The driver of the Nissan, 31-year-old Nelvis Suyapa Garcia, was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police believe the silver car may have been racing with a green-and-white Mini Cooper. The two cars did not stay at the scene after the accident.
