Sports Quick Hits: Markakis, NCAA, Free Agency

The Orioles are getting set to face the Pirates Wednesday in Sarasota. Jake Arrieta will be on the mound trying to pick up where he left off with a blazing 97 mph fastball in his last outing. Nick Markakis makes his spring debut after recovering from offseason abdominal surgery. Another round of cuts is expected Wednesday or Thursday.

NFL: It was a furious first 12 hours of free agency. The Lions extended the contract of wide receiver Calvin Johnson making him the richest wide out in NFL history. Megatron signed a  7-year deal worth $132 million with $60 million guaranteed and will keep him in Detroit through 2019.

Two more NCAA tournament games, Vermont and Lamar will meet with the winner facing number 1 North Carolina in the Midwest, and South Florida and Cal will meet with that winner meeting Temple in the same bracket. You can hear the games on ESPN Radio 1300.

On the ice the Buffalo Sabres will try and keep pace with the Capitals in the Eastern Conference playoff race. The Sabres host the Avalanche trailing the Caps by 4 points for the final playoff spot.
