Sports Quick Hits: Grubbs Gone, Orioles Meet Tigers
Ben Grubbs is the third Raven in the last 24 hours to leave Baltimore via free agency. The Pro Bowl guard has signed a 5-year deal with the New Orleans Saints worth $36 million with a $10 million signing bonus and $6 million guaranteed. The Saints lost their guard Carl Nicks to the Buccaneers. The Ravens in response have guard Evan Mathis at the Owings Mills facility Thursday.
Speaking of the Buccaneers, they already have Vincent Jackson, the aforementioned Nicks and CB Eric Wright. They have also added QB Dan Orlovsky signing him to a 2-year, $2.5 million deal.
Orioles and Tigers meet in Lakeland, Fla. Thursday. Brian Matusz will get the start. Nick Markakis gets the day off and Nolan Reimold is back in the line-up.
NBA: The trade deadline is at 3 p.m. Thursday. As of now, it looks like Dwight Howard is staying put. The all-star center says he will not opt out of his deal this summer and will stay with Orlando through the end of next season.
