Cambridge Man Charged With Fleeing Traffic Stop & Injuring Police Officer

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- State and Baltimore City police have arrested an Eastern Shore man for fleeing a traffic stop in Cambridge that injured a police officer.

Demetrice D. Demby, 39, of Cambridge was arrested at 9 p.m. Tuesday in the 2800-block of Erdman Avenue in Baltimore in the home of an acquaintance. Demby was arrested without incident.

On March 18, Demby was driving a truck and was stopped by Cambridge police just before 12:30 a.m. for traffic violations. Police were conducting a K-9 drug scan of the truck when police say Demby sped away injuring the police officer who was standing near the front of his truck. That police officer and another fired their guns at Demby but Demby was not hit. His truck was found abandoned a few blocks away and police have been searching for him since the incident.

State Police charged him with first- and second-degree assault, attempted first- and second-degree murder and second-degree assault upon a law enforcement officer.

Demby is being held without bond at the Wicomico County Detention Center.
