Amended Md. Disclosure Bill Includes Counties

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Maryland senators want county-level officials to post their financial disclosure forms online.

The Senate voted Thursday to require county governments to put the forms on the Internet.

The move is an amendment to legislation that would mandate state officials' disclosures be put online.

Sen. Roy Dyson, a Democrat and vice chairman of the Education, Health and Environmental Affairs who is shepherding the bill in the chamber, says counties do not have the technological capability to post the forms. He says the General Assembly should be focused on making state lawmakers and executive branch employees' information easily accessible.

Currently, anyone who wants to review state-level disclosure forms must travel to Annapolis and present identification. Legislators are notified when someone asks to review their forms.

The bill awaits a final Senate vote.
