Police: Fast Food Employee Caught Stealing

LEXINGTON PARK, Md. (AP) -- Authorities say the manager of a fast food restaurant in Lexington Park caught one of his employees stealing.

The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office says the manager of the Checkers restaurant told deputies he'd been experiencing a series of thefts.

The manager put some cash in a purse and placed it in the back of the store, writing the word "caught" on the money. When he found that some of the money was missing, he called police.

Deputies found that Joseph Jenkins, 18, of Lexington Park was in possession of the stolen cash. He's also accused of stealing from other employees on March 17 and March 22. He's been charged with three counts of theft and one count of theft scheme.
