House Votes To Approve Fantasy Games

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Score one for the fantasy coaches.

The House of Delegates passed a bill Monday that would exempt fantasy games like "Fantasy Football" from prohibitions against betting, wagering and gambling in state law. The vote was 114-16.

The measure now goes to the state Senate.

The bill includes a provision that would authorize the state comptroller to adopt certain regulations that could require
companies to register with the state.

Fantasy sports leagues generally operate online. Outcomes of contest are based on statistics of various players in professional sports.
