Dry Marsh Area Catches Fire Near Bay Bridge

QUEEN ANNE’S COUNTY, Md. (WJZ)—A large brush fire ignited near the Bay Bridge on Tuesday afternoon.

Sky Eye Chopper 13 was over the scene as flames burned away the dry marsh area.

Nearly 500 acres of marsh ground near Thompson Creek off Route 8 caught fire. The location is just five miles away from the Bay Bridge.

Four fire companies responded and brought the fire under control at around 6:15 p.m.

Brush fires are a growing danger because of the recent dry weather.

I live less than a mile from Thompson Creek (as the crow flies) and we just yesterday got our pasture dry enough to mow. For what my opinion is worth, I think someone must have set this fire.
