Metro Launches Sexual Harassment Awareness Effort
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Metro is launching a public awareness campaign to encourage sexual harassment victims to file reports with the police.
The campaign includes an online form allowing riders who've been sexually harassed to report their complaints to the Metro Transit Police for follow-up. Customers will have the option of remaining anonymous. Customer awareness posters will also be displayed on buses and in train stations.
The campaign was created by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority and is being licensed to Metro for free.
Metro Transit Police track all complaints of sexual harassment to identify trends. The numbers will be reported publicly each quarter to Metro's Board of Directors.
