Bob Haynie: New NFL Uniforms Much Ado About Nothing

There was a lot of hype over the last couple of days concerning the unveiling of Nike's new NFL uniforms. Since Nike replaced Reebok as the official clothier of the National Football League, fans have been anxiously waiting to see the new look for their favorite team.

Well, on Tuesday, we got to see the new duds.

And...

They look just like the old duds.

With the exception of some minor tweaks to the piping on the jersey collar, the Baltimore Ravens will continue to look the way they have looked for over a decade.

As a matter of fact, the only franchise to actually change their uniforms were the Seattle Seahawks. And their new look leaves a lot to be desired.

Of course, with the Nike swoosh now on the jerseys, hats and all other licensed NFL gear, fans who want to look official are going to have to go out and buy the fresh merchandise.

So, from a business standpoint, I see were the league is coming from.

But from a hype standpoint, it was way overblown.

Will I be buying some Nike branded Ravens swag?

Eventually.

For now, I'll stick to sporting my 1999 Peter Boulware jersey.
