WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican Eric Knowles has won his party’s nomination for the U.S. House of Representatives in the 3rd Congressional District.

Preliminary results from Tuesday’s election show Knowles with 34 percent of vote. Thomas “Pinkston” Harris was second among the other three candidates with 29 percent of the vote.

Knowles is a Baltimore-based bartender and Air Force veteran. He will face Democratic incumbent John Sarbanes in the Nov. 6 general election.

The 3rd District includes parts of Anne Arundel, Howard, Montgomery and Baltimore counties and part of Baltimore city.
