Business And Civic Leaders Push Offshore Wind Bill

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Minority business owners want the Maryland legislature to use its final days pass a measure to develop offshore wind energy.

Civic and business leaders are scheduled to gather Friday morning to urge the state Senate to pass the bill, which is
currently before the Finance Committee.

The measure passed the House of Delegates in an 88-47 vote last week and the General Assembly is scheduled to adjourn Monday.

Supporters are expected to highlight environmental benefits of the bill and will emphasize elements that dedicate funds to support minority businesses involved with developing offshore wind.
