ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Property taxes will go up 3.1 cents under Anne Arundel County Executive John Leopold’s proposed $1.2 billion budget.
The budget for fiscal 2013, unveiled Monday, does not include furloughs for county workers for the first time in two years.
Leopold says budget choices were more difficult than in previous years. The county likely will get $13 million less in state funding than expected.
The Capital of Annapolis reports that Leopold’s proposal allocates $572.5 million for county schools, and will add 62 teachers.
The County Council has until May 31 to approve Leopold’s plan or develop a new one.
