Baltimore Co. Picks 2 New Speed Camera Sites
CATONSVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Baltimore County officials say new speed cameras will be installed near schools in Catonsville and Perry Hall.
Police Chief James Johnson selected sites near Johnnycake Elementary School on Craigmont Road and Perry Hall High School on Ebenezer Road. This brings the total number of speed camera locations in the county to 17.
For 30 days after each camera is activated, motorists exceeding the speed limit by at least 12 miles per hour will receive warnings rather than citations. Citations will be issued after 30 days.
A new camera base has also been installed near Catonsville High School. Officials say a camera can now be placed at any one of the three bases near the school at the chief's discretion.
