Ravens Upgrade With Upshaw And Company?

The Ravens passed on a first round draft pick but had a chance to make that ground up with two second round picks. The first guy they selected was senior defensive end Courtney Upshaw from Alabama. He is someone who will be able to help this team. With this acquisition the Ravens can possibly move Albert McClellan inside linebacker. Either way, Upshaw was fortunate to fall here, after having to spend an EXTRA night in NYC (which he quickly left once the Ravens took him.)

The other selection that they made in the second round was Kelechi Osemele, an offensive guard from Iowa State. Now, there has been a lot of clamor for the Ravens this off-season to upgrade the offensive line - with some players leaving or getting older. Thus when one door closes another one opens, an opportunity comes along. With the Ravens drafting Osemele, it could very well put pressure on Jah Reid for the LT starting job, although Osemele is more flexible and can play LG with Ben Grubbs departure to the Saints.

Lastly, the Ravens did have a pick in the third round. They selected running back Bernard Pierce out of Temple. He can be a great asset for the team and also lighten the load for Ray Rice. He will also challenge Anthony Allen. How much impact will they have remains unseen
