65-Year-Old Man Pleads Guilty To Forcing 9-Year-Old Girl Into Sexual Activity

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- A 65-year-old man has pleaded guilty to coercing a 9-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity.

According to the plea agreement, David Mitchell Rowe befriended the girl in June 2011 when she was spending time at a Linthicum hotel pool with her parents. The girl and her parents were staying at the hotel.

Rowe played games with the girl in the pool and later touched her inappropriately. He also exposed himself while the girl was underwater.

The day the girl and her parents were scheduled to check out of the hotel, Rowe gave a small velvet bag to a lifeguard at the pool to deliver to the girl. The lifeguard gave the bag to the girl's father. In the bag were a gold money clip with the name 'Dave' engraved on it and a folded picture of Rowe. Rowe had written his address and phone numbers requesting the girl to "Write, call or text, please."

The girl's father contacted the police and an undercover detective began a text message conversation with Rowe. Rowe was arrested after scheduling a meeting with what he thought was the girl in question.

Rowe admitted to detectives that he molested an 11-year-old girl in the mid-1970s and a 9-year-old girl in 2011. Both girls confirmed that Rowe had molested them when law enforcement contacted them.

Rowe is now required to register as a sex offender and faces a minimum 10-year prison. He also faces up to a lifetime of supervised release. The United States district court has not set a date for his sentencing.
