MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — Morgantown police have charged three men with misdemeanor violations for allegedly contributing to weekend street fires marking the end of finals week at West Virginia University.

Police Chief Ed Preston says police and firefighters handled eight trash bin fires and seven street blazes over the weekend.

Kyle Whelan, 20, of Seaville, N.J., was cited Friday night for underage drinking and for throwing a couch into a fire.

Mark Euga Jr., 20, of Lutherville-Timonium, Md., was also cited for throwing combustible items into a fire and underage
consumption.

Justin Myers, 21, of South Charleston was cited for throwing combustible material into a third fire.

Whelan and Euga are listed as students in WVU’s online directory. That means if convicted, they could face possible
disciplinary action under the school’s student-conduct code.
