Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez

WASHINGTON (AP) — A man accused of shooting an assault rifle at the White House and charged with the attempted assassination of President Barack Obama faces two additional counts.

An indictment adds firearms and “injury to a dwelling” charges to a list of 17 Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez was already facing.

The maximum penalty for injury to a dwelling is 20 years in prison.

At a status hearing for Ortega on Friday, his attorney entered a not guilty plea to the additional charges on his behalf.

Ortega, a resident of Idaho Falls, Idaho, is charged with using an assault rifle with an attached scope to fire a series of shots at the White House from long range on the night of Nov. 11.

Obama and the first lady were out of town.
