Man Convicted Of Second-Degree Murder In Shooting Death Of Neighbor
CENTREVILLE, Md. (AP) -- A jury has convicted a man of second-degree murder in the shooting of his neighbor in Queen Anne's county.
Charles Edward "Pete" Richter, 67, was convicted Thursday in the April 2011 death of Mark Xander, 55, in Stevensville. The two families had disagreements that dated back 14 years.
Richter had claimed he shot Xander in self-defense. His lawyer plans to file a motion for a new trial.
Richter faces a maximum of 50 years in prison at sentencing June 26.
