Contractor Claim Against Baltimore County Denied
TOWSON, Md. (AP) -- A Baltimore County circuit court judge has ruled against a contractor who claimed the county owed the company $1.4 million.
The Baltimore Sun reports that the judge this month rejected an appeal from Frederick, Md., based George Moehrle Masonry Inc. The judge's ruling affirms a decision of a county hearing officer, who had awarded the company nearly
$73,000.
The dispute centers around the construction of the County Detention Center. A statement from the county says the company had a $3 million contract to perform work in 2004 and 2005. The company claims delays caused by the county or another contractor held up the job and argued for a higher amount in damages.
George Moehrle, the company president, says his lawyers are considering an appeal.
