Volunteer Firefighters To Move Into New Station

FROSTBURG, Md. (AP) -- The Frostburg Volunteer Fire Department is preparing to move into its new station.

Officials told the Frostburg City Council last week that the project is nearly complete. Garage doors need to be installed, and then the floors.

The Times-News of Cumberland reports that the new station is in the former Price Distributing Warehouse, which was renovated and retrofitted. At 14,000 square feet, the new station is twice the size of the old. It includes a physical fitness area, a bunk room for crews, a training room, and a community room with a commercial kitchen and offices.

Construction costs are expected to total more than $445,000. Frostburg received a $300,000 Community Development Block Grant to help pay for the project.
