Highway Sign To Be Unveiled For Slain State Trooper

FORESTVILLE, Md. (AP) — A highway sign is being dedicated in honor of a Maryland state trooper who was killed while off duty two years ago.

The sign unveiling will take place Wednesday morning along Interstate 495, near the state police Forestville barracks.

It’ll honor Trooper Wesley Brown, who was fatally shot in June 2010 while working part-time security at an Applebee’s restaurant in Forestville. The shooter, Cyril Cornelius Williams, had been removed from the restaurant by Brown for being disorderly and later returned and shot the trooper.

Williams was sentenced to life in prison without parole, plus 25 years, earlier this month.

State Police Superintendent Marcus Brown, state Sen. C. Anthony Muse and other officials are scheduled to attend.
