Police Investigate 3 Overnight Shootings That Left 2 Dead & 5 Injured

BALTIMORE (WJZ/AP)-- Baltimore seems to have had more than its share of  gun violence overnight -- with  two people dead as a result.

Ron Matz reports seven people were shot in three separate incidents over the span of just two hours on Thursday night.

The first shooting happened around 6 p.m. Police say three people were shot in the 2500-block of West Fayette, during a dispute over money.

About an hour later, three others were shot on the 2600-block of East Preston Street. One died.

Another man was later shot to death in North Baltimore on York Road.

Police say one victim was reported in grave condition, one in critical and the other three are expected to survive. Three men and two women were wounded in the shootings.

So far, no arrests have been made and no one has been identified in the shootings.

A police spokesman described all three shootings as targeted attacks, adding that the suspects and victims knew each other.

The outburst of violence brought the yearly homicide total to 80, one more than at this time last year.
