Man Convicted After Officer Is Pushed Off Highway
BALTIMORE (AP) -- The driver who hit a police cruiser, which caused a chain reaction and sent a Baltimore police officer over an elevated highway, has been convicted of three traffic offenses.
Robert Vanderford, 23, of Baltimore was fined $260, assessed three points and ordered to perform community service at a police station on Friday.
On June 21, Officer Teresa Rigby fell 30 feet from Interstate 83. She underwent several surgeries and rehabilitation.
The Baltimore Sun reports that her lawyer said in court Rigby will be forced to retire on medical disability. She has filed a $15 million civil lawsuit against Vanderford.
