SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) — Organizers of the Silverdocs Documentary Festival in Silver Spring are announcing their slate of documentary films to be screened during the 10th annual event.
The festival runs June 18 to 24 at the AFI Silver Theatre and nearby venues. The slate announced Tuesday includes 114 films selected from more than 2,000 submissions. More than 1,200 filmmakers are expected to participate in master classes and workshops during a related documentary conference.
The festival opens June 18 with a screening of “Don’t Stop Believin’: Everyman’s Journey” about Filipino singer Arnel
Pineda’s rags-to-riches story as the front man for a Manila cover band who later joined the popular U.S. band Journey as its lead singer.
The festival also will honor filmmakers Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky during its Guggenheim Symposium.
