The Ravens second week of OTA’s were not particularly well attended. Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Haloti Ngata, Anquan Boldin, Vonta Leach, Bryant McKinnie, Bernard Pollard, Marshall Yanda and plenty of others did not attend.
This is disappointing, particularly when we find out that other teams like the Steelers, Patriots, Bengals, 49′ers, Jets and Giants had almost perfect attendance. Does this mean the Ravens won’t have a great season? No. However, there are only 3 weeks of voluntary practices; that’s 9 practices over a 6 month period. Then, there’s a week of mandatory camp. So in total, these players can’t show up for 12 practices?
Don’t get me wrong. I am certain guys have commitments and family that create conflicts. But, that doesn’t excuse everybody. Even if there isn’t a lot for the veterans to get out of these, they can still show up and provide leadership.
It’s a disappointment that so many guys follow the other players’ lead and not post.
