Virtual Assistant Joins Dulles International Airport

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Travelers going through Dulles International Airport in the Washington area are being greeted by a life-size hologram helper.

The Washington Examiner reports that the virtual assistant named Paige is the first hologram at a U.S. airport. "Virtual assistants" like her are already in airports in London, Frankfurt, Germany and other overseas locations.

Paige tells travelers how to get through customs and what papers they need. She can't respond to travelers' questions, but an upgraded version in the works will be more interactive.

Paige is currently on a three-month trial at Dulles while airport administrators gauge her usefulness. The Port of Authority of New York and New Jersey also has plans to test holograms at three airports in July.
