Orioles Select Steve Johnson's Contract, Transfer Britton To Disabled List

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- The Baltimore Orioles selected right-handed pitcher Steve Johnson's contract and optioned him to Triple-A Norfolk.

Johnson, 24, has a 2.62 ERA in eight games for the Norfolk Tides. Johnson came to the Orioles from the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2009 in exchange for left-handed pitcher George Sherrill.

The Orioles transferred left-handed pitcher Zach Britton from a 15-day disabled list to a 60-day disabled list to make room for Johnson. Britton has been on the disabled list since March with a left shoulder impingement.
