Baltimore Aquarium CEO To Dive In For Oceans Day

BALTIMORE (AP) -- The CEO of the National Aquarium in Baltimore plans to get wet to commemorate World Oceans Day.

The National Aquarium says CEO John Racanelli will jump into exhibits Friday afternoon along with conservationist John Halas.

Halas is a marine biologist and manager of the upper region of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. Halas developed a buoy system that helps boaters prevent anchoring damage to coral reefs.

Racanelli, who became CEO last June, is a sailor and surfer as well as a certified diver.

The event kicks off a weekend of activities at the aquarium to raise awareness about the role oceans play in everyday life and how people can protect them.
