Steve Davis: Mason Retiring
Derrick Mason has officially retired as a Raven. I was looking at his place in Ravens history, and the story it tells is the amazing lack of productivity out of the receivers position.
After Mason, who caught almost 500 passes in 6 years here, the 2nd most productive Ravens receiver is Mark Clayton, who will go down as a first round bust. Qadry Ismail is the third most productive receiver, and he only played 3 years here. Fourth on the list is Travis Taylor, who played 5 years here, and was a bigger bust than Clayton. In fact, you can make the case that he was our biggest first round flop ever, even more than Boller because he was picked so high.
Mason was a great receiver, but he sure didn't have much competition either.
