Charges Filed Against Md. Man Shot By Police
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- The Washington County Sheriff's Office says it has obtained a warrant charging a Myersville man who was critically wounded by police after he pointed a loaded handgun at them.
The agency said Thursday that the arrest warrant charges James Jardina, 45, with first-degree assault, theft of a
stolen handgun and other offenses stemming from the incident Sunday at a commuter parking lot near Hagerstown.
Jardina remains in critical condition at Shock Trauma in Baltimore. Police say the warrant won't be served until his health improves. Sheriff's Deputy Jasen Logsdon and Maryland Natural Resources Police Officer Daniel Harbaugh remain on administrative leave while the shooting is being investigated.
They allegedly fired 33 shots, four or five of which hit Jardina.
