Baltimore Man Accused In Shaking Death Of Baby

BALTIMORE (AP) -- A Baltimore man is accused in the death of his girlfriend's young daughter.

Police say Sharmell Thomas, 22, has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of the 14-month-old girl.

The child, identified as Desmare Braxton, was found unresponsive Wednesday morning after Thomas called the police to report that the child had a seizure.

Police say the child had bruises on her body. The Baltimore Sun reports that Thomas admitted under questioning from detectives that he had shaken the baby.
