BALTIMORE (AP) — Ten communities in Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania have been selected to receive Green Streets grants to protect the environment as well as create green jobs.
The Environmental Protection Agency, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and the Maryland Department of the Environment plan to announce the grants Wednesday in Baltimore.
Agency officials say the six Maryland, three Virginia and one Pennsylvania community were chosen for programs that improve overall health, enhance livability and create green jobs.
The announcement will also include a green job training event for 30 unemployed or displaced individuals.
