Lightning Fire Burns Frederick Home

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Lightning from a thunderstorm that swept through Maryland struck a home in Frederick County, starting a fire.

No one was injured in the fire Friday night.

The county fire marshal's office says lightning struck the house about 11 p.m., starting the blaze in the attic that burned through the roof. About 30 firefighters brought the fire under control within 10 minutes.

The fire marshal estimated the damage at $40,000.
