Md. Utility Says It’s Addressing Meter Complaints
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) — Western Maryland electric utility Potomac Edison says it’s addressing complaints about the timeliness of its meter reading.
The company sent a nine-page letter Friday to the state Public Service Commission in response to issues raised in May by the Sugarloaf Conservancy.
The Frederick County citizens group claimed the company had read its members’ electric meters an average of four times in the past 13 months rather than every other month, as required. The conservancy says the missed readings have resulted in usage estimates that are too high.
The company acknowledges having missed some readings but says the estimates are fair. It says it expects to have four new meter readers in the field by early August.
Potomac Edison is owned by FirstEnergy Corp, of Akron, Ohio.
