ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) — A trash dropoff site in Montgomery County says more than 4,800 tons of tree debris has been dropped off at the facility following last week’s storms.

Peter Karasik, the manager of the Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station, said Friday that the facility is still processing debris from the storm. Karasik says that on Tuesday more than 4,000 cars dropped off yard waste. That’s compared to about 800 cars on a normal day.

Montgomery County officials are also planning a one-time storm debris pickup from county maintained roads. The county says the pickup will begin July 11. Crews will systematically visit all of the county’s 217 snow plow routes and pick up tree debris. The county says residents should ensure the debris does not block sidewalks, driveways and roads.
