WEATHER BLOG: Hotter Than...

Well, one really hot day, then one very hot day, then some relief with a condition. Saturday sets up to be a very hot day across the region. We have westerly flow aloft, a light westerly flow at the surface and high heating potential across the atmosphere. So, we are calling for record-breaking temperatures Saturday afternoon amid hazy sunshine. The humidity will make it feel even warmer. Late Saturday into Sunday there will be a front moving into the area with a gusty thunderstorm late.

Sunday the front will not have pushed through much yet and we'll still have another hot day to deal with, though it will drop out of the 100s. There will be some mainly afternoon showers and thunderstorms and a few of these storms could contain strong winds. Finally the front will settle just to the south of the region, but it still allows for showers on Monday, then we'll dry out for Tuesday and Wednesday.

On Thursday we'll stay dry, but I could see how a pop-up thunderstorm appears. We may want to mention
that with moisture increasing overall across the Mid Atlantic.
