Man Dies In Chesapeake Bay Boating Accident

BALTIMORE (AP) -- The Coast Guard says a man died after a boat he was aboard collided with a beacon in the Chesapeake Bay near Virginia's Tangier Island.

The Coast Guard says officials were contacted at about 10:15 p.m. Friday. A 37-year-old man reported that he had collided with an object in the water and that he and another man aboard were injured.

The man was able to moor the boat at a marina on Tangier Island. Officials arriving on the scene attempted to give the second man CPR, but he was later pronounced dead. The 37-year-old caller was transported to a hospital.

The Coast Guard did not identify the deceased boater.
