Man Trying To Cross Road On Riding Mower Hit

CHESTERTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police say a man who tried to cross a highway on his riding mower was hit by a tractor-trailer.

It happened about 6:30 a.m. Monday in Chestertown. Troopers say George Hummer, 57, of Chestertown was driving his mower when he tried to cross Md. 290 just north of the Md. 544 intersection and was hit by a tractor-trailer driven by John Short Jr., 55, of Millington.

WBOC-TV reports Hummer was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore with serious but non-life threatening
injuries. Short was not injured.

The accident is under investigation.
