Montgomery County Removes 26 Buses From Ride On

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County officials are permanently removing 26 buses from the county's Ride On bus system after a fire broke out on one of them.

A spokeswoman said all the models of the one that had the fire had been removed from service. She said the system has 367 buses.

In a statement on the county's website, County Executive Isiah Leggett said staff was working to find replacement buses, and expects all will be replaced by the end of August.

Because the buses have been removed, Ride On will operate on a modified holiday schedule Thursday and Friday. There are exceptions to the posted schedule to add service to three lines.

The schedule is on the county's website: www.montgomerycountymd.gov.
