Hopkins Provost Leaving For Stanford University

BALTIMORE (AP) -- The provost of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore is becoming the dean of the Stanford University School of Medicine.

Dr. Lloyd Minor's appointment was announced Wednesday. Minor, a head and neck surgeon who received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Brown University, has spent nearly two decades at Hopkins. He has been provost and senior vice president for academic affairs for the past three years.

Minor will leave Hopkins at the end of August and assume his position as dean at Stanford on Dec. 1. Hopkins says physics and astronomy professor Jonathan Bagger will serve as interim provost.

At Stanford, Minor succeeds Philip Pizzo, who has led the school as dean since 2001.
