Frederick Mayor To Give Update On His Goals

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Frederick Mayor Randy McClement is preparing to highlight his achievements and discuss his goals for the remainder of his first term.

The event was set for late Tuesday morning at City Hall.

A key plank in McClement's 2009 campaign platform was construction of a downtown hotel and conference center. Earlier this month, a state-funded study showed that conditions are favorable for the proposed project. The city has identified several potential sites for it, but there's been little public evidence of developer interest.

McClement also has worked to make Frederick a bigger bicycling town. The city was recently designated a bicycle-friendly community by the League of American Bicyclists. A high-wheel bicycle race is set for Aug. 18.

McClement's term ends in 2013.
