I wonder if we’re getting to a point where more and more teams will start banning Twitter.
Bengals coach Marvin Lewis did it, at least temporarily, after one of his players Dre Kirkpatrick, put out injury news on Twitter that Lewis didn’t want anyone knowing. Hope Solo put the focus on the wrong thing after two wins by ripping, via Twitter, one of the most celebrated players in history, Brandi Chastain. Lolo Jones sent what many have determined to be an insensitive tweet about guns, even though she says people have misinterpreted her tweet. Last week, Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher banned his players.
Twitter is fun, but athletes might soon realize it might be better to not let their fingers do the walking or talking.
