HYATTSVILLE, Md. (AP) — A 25-year-old man has been charged with kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl in Prince George’s County, and police believe it’s not the first time he’s committed such crimes.

Police say Charles Amofa was arrested Monday afternoon after an officer found him and the victim near a Hyattsville-area playground where the alleged sexual assault took place.

Police say Amofa approached the girl at a store and lured her outside. He then allegedly took her to the playground and sexually assaulted her.

Police say their investigation revealed that Amofa was involved in a similar attack last month. In that case, an 8-year-old girl was lured from the same store but fought off her attacker and ran away.

Online court records do not list an attorney for Amofa.
