Drivers Injured After 2 Cars Collide In Howard County

HOWARD COUNTY, Md. (WJZ)— A head-on collision on Route 108 Thursday afternoon sends both drivers to area hospitals.

The collision happened around 3 p.m. when the driver of a 2011 Chevrolet Aveo, who was traveling eastbound on Route 108 just east of the Montgomery County Line, crossed over the double yellow lines and collided head on with a 1999 GMC Yukon, which was traveling westbound route 108, just east of the Montgomery County Line.

The driver and single occupant of the Chevrolet Aveo was transported by Maryland State Police Medevac to Shock Trauma where she is listed in stable condition. The driver has not been identified, pending notification to family members.

Preliminary investigation reveals failure to drive right of center as the primary cause of the collision.

Route 108 was closed to traffic during the collision investigation. Normal traffic flow was reestablished at 6 p.m.

The collision is still under investigation.
