FREDERICK, Md. (AP) — A watchdog organization wants Fort Detrick and the city of Frederick to agree on a time frame in which elected officials would be notified about emergencies on the post.

The Frederick News-Post says the request for standards comes from the Containment Laboratory Community Advisory Committee, which on Monday submitted a draft memorandum of understanding to the city’s Board of Aldermen. The document is in response to concerns that Fort Detrick has been slow to respond to questions.

The containment lab watchdog group suggests officials from the post and the city communicate with each other on non-emergency matters within 48 hours. It also wants a time frame, within hours, for the post to notify elected officials about incidents posing a community safety risk.
